Chapter 22 -Tough Decisions

“Ms. Banks I need to advise you that you have quite a bit of scar tissue built up. With each pregnancy termination you are lessing your chances of being able to conceive when you are ready,” Dr Rosae advised.

“Yeah, I know. You gave me this speech the last few times I came here. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.”

“The choice is yours to make but you may want to consider other options for birth control. Ms. Banks you need to understand that abortion is not birth control.”

“I know that!” Sonnet snapped. “Can we just get this over with?”

Sonnet was already feeling bad about ending the pregnancy without telling Derrick. The last thing she needed was some quack trying to play on her conscious. It had been a bad week all the way around. From her run in with Aviare and him being stingy with his loot, to Jose getting fired because of her stealing. She needed to come up with a way to get the money for the abortion so she didn’t have to put it on the card. She didn’t want it traced back to her. There was no way she could bring a baby into the world as long as she was with a pauper. She had to do whatever it took to get back on top. And having a baby at this point in the game was not in the plan. The only thing that she wanted to do was have the procedure and go home and rest. Hopefully Derrick would be too tired to talk.

The exact opposite happened. When she walked in the door Derrick was home for a break. Since she’d told him that the reason she couldn’t come into work was because she was feeling under the weather he wanted to check on her and see if she needed anything.

Her attempts to blow him off only resulted in him becoming more concerned. He was convinced that she was going through some sort of depression and should at least contact her family and talk to them about what she had been through.

The mere fact that he brought up family yet again, after she asked not to, only served to further piss her off. The only good thing that came out
